About AI Auto Repair Tools
Who's Behind This
I've spent over fifteen years working in auto repair shops, from oil changes at an independent garage to managing diagnostics at a multi-bay dealership service center. When AI diagnostic tools started showing up in vendor pitches around 2021, I got excited. Then I got frustrated. Every product claimed to "transform shop efficiency," but finding an honest breakdown of what actually worked on a real lift was nearly impossible.
I started AI Auto Repair Tools because technicians and shop owners deserve better information. We test diagnostic AI, shop management software, and customer-facing tools the way a working tech would: on actual vehicles, with actual repair orders, under actual time pressure. If a tool wastes your time or misdiagnoses a P0301 misfire, we say so. If it genuinely saves you thirty minutes on an EVAP leak diagnosis, we say that too.
This isn't a marketing site. It's a reference built by someone who still gets brake dust under their fingernails.
How We Make Money
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. When you sign up for a tool through one of our links, we may earn a commission from the vendor at no extra cost to you. That's how we keep the lights on and the site free to read.
Here's what that does not mean: affiliate relationships never influence our reviews, ratings, or rankings. We test every tool ourselves before writing about it. If a product doesn't hold up in the shop, we'll tell you so regardless of whether we have an affiliate deal with them. We've turned down affiliate partnerships with tools we wouldn't recommend, and we've given top marks to tools where we earn nothing.
The goal is simple: if you trust our recommendation and sign up, the vendor pays us a referral fee. If we lose your trust by pushing bad tools, we lose everything. That math keeps us honest.
Editorial Standards
- No sponsored content without clear disclosure. If a vendor pays for placement, we label it. Period. Most of our content has zero vendor involvement.
- No pay-for-play rankings. You cannot buy a higher position in our comparisons or "best of" lists. Rankings are based on our hands-on testing and practitioner judgment.
- We test with real shop workflows. Our reviews reflect actual use on diagnostic scanners, repair order systems, and customer communication platforms, not sandbox demos.
- Corrections are public. If we get something wrong, we update the article with a note explaining what changed and why.
